Assembly room, parlor, Maine State Sanatorium, Hebron, ca. 1909
Contributed by Maine Historic Preservation CommissionDescription
The assembly room and parlor in the Chamberlin Administration Building at the Maine State Sanatorium in Hebron.
The facility, opened in 1904, served persons with pulmonary diseases -- mostly tuberculosis. It was privately funded and operated until 1915 when the state took it over.
The image was made for a promotional pamphlet about the sanatorium. The text near this image notes that the building "is nearly as fire-proof as it could be made, with brick and concrete, adamant plaster, and expanding metal lathing."
